Could Not Remain

You wear the lonely shroud of silken mist
Accessorised with hurt to gaze forlorn
The air of grey that hints at what was once
A face that through its care has become worn
Remember you as lark ascending sky
So high as if you’d never known the ground
But when you chose the earth that starless night
Community was nowhere to be found
So proud you were to put yourself to right
The humble help rejected with disdain
A broken wing that still could break a heart
You pushed so hard that he could not remain
The solitary proud the queen of one
Unloved is what you made yourself become
