Eye Contact

There’s something in his eyes suggesting kind
A smile that although there was not from mouth
A sadness in his few words told so much
How easily we overlook the self
He has a lot to say but his words spare
Distilled ideas that strike me as profound
He poses clever questions so I talk
Quite different but with much on common ground
On crowded street that kiss at time to part
So chaste and yet the eyes that whisper more
Exchange of numbers almost was forgot
The future contact left as yet unsure
Excited by those eyes that make me feel
So vulnerable and yet completely real
