Outside Out

Immediately put me ill at ease
Neanderthal you chose that opening line
My evening now is tainted with distress
Not man enough for you my only crime
Perhaps you disagree you see the world
As competition where you have to win
But I am no contender for your crown
So with the little grace I’ve left, give in
I thought that coming out might better fit
The rainbow would create a diverse clan
But even here you tell me I’m too gay
That modelled role belongs to macho man
Mistaking toughened hide for masculine
Outsider I would rather not fit in
