Promises

Dear person I forgot to be
I’ll start again today
I think you’re truly beautiful
With very much to say
I want to live a better life
Fulfil my wildest dreams
For life should be a fantasy
And never what it seems
And you there, is there someone who
You might prefer to be
A bolder braver kinder you
Release them and be free
Life can be monotonous
If we don’t harmonise
So why not be a symphony
Each movement a surprise
For each of us forgets because
There’s so much to be done
But life should be adventurous
Why walk when you can run
Not advocating total change
If that is not your bag
But maybe just reminding you
Life shouldn’t be a drag
I promise you today I’ll smile
At life’s adversity
I hope you make a promise too
And share that choice with me
