New Model

My independence came as a surprise
So much can be achieved without a throne
It’s not that what we had was built on lies
It’s simply that your castle’s not my home
A pillow where I rest my head can be
A night or two in any given spot
But revolution’s what I long to see
The places you belong to I do not
My life is so much plainer without you
The fuss the detail so much wasted time
Embroidery so pointless I won’t do
My simplest stitch embellished into nine
Recruiter of the man more cavalier
The model army not for you I fear
