Empty

So silent like a stone the shadow cast
Across the empty room a frigid stare
Communication lost in icy blast
At temperatures to chill all human care
The hello echoes first word said today
No movement indicates that he has heard
His glassy eyes are fixed and far away
The son does not attempt another word
He almost wished he had now not appeared
The man whose heart had pushed him far from home
Reality quite simply what he feared
The man who couldn’t love was left alone
A father gone but there he still remained
The empty body nothing more contained
