Veneer

Presenting to the world a sanguine face
What lies beneath your flawless paper skin
The superficial such a tranquil place
I hope that full emotions range within
I love you and my love is built on trust
So will you strip yourself remove veneer
Beneath the polish, grime and muck and dust
Are not as unattractive as you fear
Through imperfection man becomes unique
Reveal to me your fascinating flaw
To share your inner self is never weak
The grit inside your shell becomes much more
My shoulder is the perfect place to weep
Your tears are precious pearls for me to keep
