Cease fire

So tired his face that couldn’t see much more
A life or two compressed in tender years
No wonder left no hope worth waiting for
The eyes so sad bereft of any tears
Too young to have forgotten how to cry
He stares the innocent has seen abyss
Not old enough to start to question why
The soldier boy entire his childhood missed
How many lives have stupid men destroyed
How many times the world can look away
The future for this child will be a void
If war is priced too high for him to pay
A generation never knowing peace
The sparks are lost before the fires cease
