Shift

The hunt with you was written in the cards
The covert way you looked and took your aim
The mirror broken seven years of shards
The ecstasy of conquest kills the pain
So stupidly we played with other lives
No thought of any pleasure save our own
Like children toying endlessly with knives
And to the wind like caution dice were thrown
But now I’ve had your disappointing end
The chemistry did not react as thought
We’re left as neither lover nor as friend
Dynamic tension sadly wasn’t taut
The hunter shooting blanks won’t get the prey
The tables shift I’ve other games to play
