Blue

The kingfisher has flown away so blue
Not broken hearted but he feels the lack
The moments shared so precious and so few
But leaving will allow a coming back
And you have watched that moment disappear
Perfection was distilled into a day
And all is gone save you remaining here
In memory he knows with you he’ll stay
The kingfisher his aching heart is true
He longs to find a home a place to rest
And we both know he thinks of life with you
A stranger who might offer him a nest
Horizon scan and one day you will see
The kingfisher a blue return will be
