Course

They sit together love has blown off course
And left uneasy silence in its wake
For both remember feelings of such force
The days when give was preferable to take
How many years since anything was said
Communication dry as that last kiss
Yet both are filled with same unspoken dread
The other might be someone that they miss
If only one would take the other’s hand
To reconnect and find the common ground
Could dying embers glow if they were fanned
Until you know what’s lost it can’t be found
A kindly word could change the course they took
For love is there if only they would look
