Slipped

I slipped through fingers let go from your hand
Confusion left me lying on the floor
And everything the talks and all we planned
Were dreams and fabrications nothing more
I slipped through anger floated to enjoy
For you were millstone weighing down my neck
And now the burden’s gone I am the buoy
Who’s swimming in a sea of self respect
I slipped through separation I survived
And all we didn’t do now manned alone
Amazing how my joy has somehow thrived
From independence happiness has grown
I slipped the gold you gave me wedding banned
And freedom’s not a ring worn on my hand
