Forbidden

And I was cast away without a place
My stony heart alone in cold and dark
I thought that I would sink without a trace
And then he floated by upon an ark
He took me in a saviour in the night
Together charted safer waters where
Our life was free of prejudice and blight
Forbidden love could truly blossom there
If heaven is with him then I am saved
But if our love is sin then we are lost
The love I share with him is not depraved
And who are you to tell me lines are crossed
But I’ll protect him if the day should dawn
When love is met with ignorance and scorn
