The Deben on the Flood

So long since I have seen the bluest eyes
Of Suffolk man who’s easy on my mind
And soon I’ll see him under different skies
So calm so cool ridiculously kind
Adventure so much better when it’s shared
With many miles to cover side by side
Unlikely that we ever will be paired
No matter what we both enjoy the ride
The memories are surging back today
As if he is the Deben on the flood
The golden moments won’t be washed away
More permanent than footprints in the mud
So come to me and make me yearn for what
Is buried but will never be forgot
