Monsoon

The rain it falls like soldiers under fire
Machine gunning upon the metal roof
Disturbance that will leave me in the mire
The mess and mud a testament of proof
The dry has ended welcome to the wet
Monsoon is now the order of the day
So much will fall some more and then some yet
Until September now it’s not quite May
The lakes and rivers swell and waters course
Cambodia a land so wet and flat Absorb the shock of nature in full force
The Mekong and the mighty Tonlé Sap
A flash of light and thunder in air
Oh wonder of the kingdom of Khmer
