Homo Phobia

I twist and turn but cannot fit

No space in tiny mind

So flexible yet won’t admit

A place not mine to find

And so I sprawl and own it all

Create the man I am

A king who lives beyond the wall

The flood without a dam

I’m uncontained and unrestrained

No cramping of my style

Phenomenon quite unexplained

You cannot cloud my smile

I twist and turn contortion was

Creator of the new

But out of all proportion was

The hate I felt from you

Testing Time

Something broke inside

Fear they cannot hide

Only for the ride

Now they need to speak

Answer theirs to seek

Into private peak

Took a little test

Putting minds at rest

Tidy lives were messed

Stranger turns to friend

Tale has happy end

Broke together mend

Everyday is different

Everyday the same

Everyday my difference

Others seek to blame

One day I may falter

One day standing tall

One day this will alter

Barriers can fall

Everyone is special

Everyone unique

Everyone has questions

Answers that we seek

We can make a difference

We are much the same

We ensure that different

Isn’t cause for shame

Out on the Street

The street I do not walk because of you

I’ve found a very different way to home

And if I never face you I can be

Secure along the newer paths I roam

For now I only see you in my dreams

Those nightmares disappear into the dawn

Reality is brighter than the sun

And from my mind the deed it has been torn

Just recently I almost walked your way

I paused and took a different path instead

I wonder if I’ll ever pass your door

Without the drying mouth of fear and dread

Your bitter can not sour what is sweet

For fear cannot beat pride out on the street

I'll have a proper gander
At all the lies you scrawl
But when I read I feel like
My back's against the wall
The vitriolic hatred
Your page's dripping blood
But I am not some sheep who's
Just chewing on your cud
My poetry's attrition
This war is thought and word
I rhyme out my frustration
My protest will be heard
Semantics are important
I think therefore I am
My word expresses reason
And this is what I plan
I will not stand aside when
This bigotry and fear
Are used to stop the right to
Be questioning or queer
Pan or Intersexual
Two spirited or A
This is not the seventies
We're now much more than gay
I may just be poet
I'm not a man of deed
But sometimes thought and words are
Exactly what you need
So LGB and T folk
Please rally to the call
Embrace the disenfranchised
Equality for all
