Rainbow

So funny when the sky is grey but in my heart it’s blue

The sunshine everyday is like my mini atmosphere

A choice for everyone one of us to choose a daily hue

And mine is built on honesty and facing every fear

Remember when my sky was dark as if the sun were black

Anxiety controlled me and it fashioned my life smallI made decisions, some quite hard, and now my joy is backI stumbled but then I stood up and learnt about my fallMy life is not a chocolate box it is both sweet and sour But focus on the better make the bad peripheryPerspective is a choice and the mind has so much powerSo exercise and realise that you choose the things you seeMy life’s a mix of bad and good and everything betweenBut I am chasing rainbows and I’m following my dream

Nursery Rhyme

I’ve nothing for my poem

I’m Mother Hubbard bare

The bones of rhyme have failed me

The dog can sit and stare

That itsy bitsy spider

Is hiding from my pain

And what’s the use in trying

If words go down the drain

A sheep I have the black wool

My mind is dark and thick

I wrote three bags of poems

My metre did not stick

I’m banished to the nursery

For every single time

My words are written failure

As well as writ in rhyme

President Ahab

What a nit to put on twitter all the things he said

Not so neat to freely tweet whatever’s in your head

Donald Trump you have now dumped quite publicly it seems

All your thoughts and lame retorts fit only for latrines

Nothing truer you’re the sewer, effluent it flows

Stupid child with weapons piled – look out thar he blows

Life is Done

Make the change you want to see

Be the best that you can be

Live for now and worry less

Tidy up don’t leave a mess

Think of others you can aid

Make sure debts are fully paid

Study hard as through you go

Learning helps us all to grow

Smile more often have a laugh

Light some candles for your bath

Share with others frequently

Give your love to all you see

Count your blessings one by one

Then leave in peace when life is done

Unspoken Word

So here I am again, I always find the time to rhyme

Although I’m rather busy under pressure every day

I like to stop and think and find composure in my thought

For every now and then I’ve something meaningful to say

Today however, I am simply putting down a verse

The rhythm and a rhyming pattern take me from the day

A moment that is mine, a gift I’ve given to myself

But in the end I share my words to see what you might say

Sometimes I think I’m brave but often I am just a fool

Who thinks that fourteen syllables when placed upon a line

Are poetry, when really all they are are bites of sound

And if they are not spoken out my words dissolve in time

So reader read aloud and save these lines from fate obscure

For verses left unspoken will be thoughts and nothing more
