My love

My love is like an empty place

With room for me to breathe

I’m never crowded in his space

For I’m allowed to leave

My love is like the winter air

When blooms first sense the spring

And in a life that was quite bare

Are flowers blossoming

My love is strong enough to be

A bond to keep me near

And yet I feel completely free

Just knowing he is here

The lovers’ tree

If happiness were flowering right here

And joy was thriving just outside your door

A sense content might permeate the air

And we would long for nothing any more

A garden is my life I plant and grow

The toil and labour not for me alone

For everything that I so gently sow

Enables me to offer you a home

So light your jasmine eyes upon my face

My honeysuckle’s clinging so divine

This Eden made on earth will be our place

For everything is shared and nothing mine

So come and plant yourself right next to me

And we will sit beneath the lovers’ tree
